Upload of photo from Flickr

I finally uploaded this photo from Flickr! I was using the URL of the page it appeared on rather than the URL of the image itself.

This is a picture of Taroom, a small town in Queensland that was my home base from 1979 - 2002? Worryingly the German tourist who took this photo labelled it "the end of the world".

I just checked the Telstra web site and they now have access to ADSL broadband so it's definately an overstatement.

It was interesting to see how other libraries use their Flickr accounts. It seems to be a good way to document and publicise library functions and events, current displays, any renovations or new building works, equipment upgrades and local history collections.

The pictures of children's activities would add a lot of colour to any web site although there is always the problem of gaining parental permission to publish pictures of children.

I think Stephen from SirsiDynix also commented that it can be a great way for patrons to get to know staff if you publish their pictures. Maybe making them seem more familiar and therefore approachable.
